Description

I last attempted the heart nebula when I first got into astrophotography a few years ago. I used a DSLR on that occasion, and I didn't know much about processing. Thanks to a stretch of good weather this November, I was able to collect a lot of good narrowband data. (The RGB data was used exclusively for star replacement.) I had a great time processing this one because there was so much background detail that I wanted to bring out.

If anyone knows what that blue oval doodad is along the left lower edge of the image, I'd be delighted to hear from you. I suspect it is a planetary nebula but cannot identify it. I did see it in other people's images, so I know it is not a glitch in my data.

UPDATE:
Thanks to my good friend, Eric Dreher, for identifying the planetary nebula as WeBo 1 (PN G135.6+01.0). There’s an interesting article about it in the Astronomical Journal.
