Description

A mistaken (dyslexic) sequence addition to NINA gave me this galaxy instead of the desired target (NGC 4651)!    Time to make lemonade....   This galaxy appears not to have been imaged on AB before.

NGC 4561 is a barred spiral lacking a bulge, but containing a supermassive black hole.   It's also categorized as having an Active Galactic Nucleus (AGN), causing some to question the formation theory relationship of bulges to SMBHs.   The galaxy lies some 80 +/- 15 million light years away in the Virgo Cluster of galaxies.   Hubble took a very nicely detailed image of this galaxy which can be found on the web.    All things considered, this little galaxy does have some appeal, even if a bit small to show much detail.
