Description

420x0,0004sec Light Frames, 15% best quality frames were stacked in AutoStakkert3.

The stack was stretched in Photoshop and sharpening and denoise wavelets applied in RegiStax 6.

The image was taken through a newtonian reflector telescope (Upside down view orientation) and the camera rotation (-90 degrees) caused the image to need a few adjustments to match how we see the moon without optics.

Because of that I had to perform these 2 image processing operations in Photoshop:

1. Rotate 90 degrees clockwise

2. Flip the image vertically

Now it is possible to look at a standard moon map and see that this image contains most of the SE part of the moon and a bit of the NE part as well.

The craters Theophilius (110km diameter) and Cyrillus (98km diameter) are very easy to recognize. Also the nearby creater named Mädler is easy to see (27km diameter).
