Description

Messier 1 or Crab nebula always captured my imagination since I read about the historic event in the year 1054.
The EdgeHD800 offered me the opportunity to photograph this phenomenon myself during a couple of nights in the last winter. I used the Edge with the native focus distance of 2121mm, for the first (and for the time being the last time) with an OAG.
I made subs of LRGB plus Hα and OIII in order to catch the colorful emissions of these atoms, but at the time I was not yet able to properly process the resulting stacks.
In the meantime I learned to play around with pixelmath in Siril and found a suitable way to combine the RGB with Hα and OIII in Siril that I could combine with the luminance stack in Photoshop. I myself was surprised of the colorfulness of the result compared with my first picture.
Next winter, I will certainly visit this beautiful object again!
