Description

I got a solar telescope some time ago, mainly because I am fascinated by the dynamics in the solar chromosphere.

In this little animation I could catch a dynamic prominence with some (apparently) detached arch-shaped part. The animation covers the time between 7:44 and 8:01 UT on March 28, 2020.

The animation consists of 16 images, taken every minute. For each of theses images the best 200 out of 1000 frames were stacked with Autostakkert and sharpend with Registax. Finally they were aligned with imppg and combined into a colored animation with Gimp.

The apparent rotation stems from tracking with an alt-az mount.

An image of the Earth at the same scale is inserted for size comparison.
