Description

I photographed this beautiful group during two half nights in April 2022. Moon was still in the sky at an angle of 65-70 degrees from the target.

NGC 5371 is a face-on spiral galaxy in the constellation Canes Venatici, 100 million light years away from Earth. Close to it and approximately at same distance is the Hickson 68 group including NGC5353, 5354, 5350, 5358, 5355. It seems that NGC5371 is interacting with Hickson 68 objects. All of them seem to be part of a filament joining the Coma Cluster NGC1656 with the Virgo Cluster.
In the background are visible countless more distant galaxies, for instance the ones in the lower part of this image here, close to the border.
