NGC 3226/7 Arp 94

The two Galaxies NGC 3226/7 are strongly interacting galaxies and listed in the Arp catalog as nr. 94. There are tidal streams way beyond the galaxies, which would requiere at least another 10 hrs. of exposure to see them. The distance is about 50 mio Lj. The size 5,4 x 3,6 arcmin.

Close to the upper end of the picture are two small galaxies which are very likely as well interacting PGC 30397 and PGC 1605532. There are a lot of very faint galaxies in the background at a distance of ar. 600 Mio Lj.

This time the camera was the APS-C Nikon D5100a, because of slightly better resolution.
