NGC 3675 A dusty galaxy in Ursa Major

NGC 3675 is a magnitude 10 spiral galaxy, which belongs to the Ursa Major Cluster. It is about 40 millions light years away from us. The galaxy has a rich dust structure. The spiral disc includes a number of blue (star forming?) regions. The dim outer arms are barely visible on this image.

There are a number of small galaxies in the field (annotated).

The image consists of 408 unguided exposures 120 seconds each.

Description: Entire field. Reprocessed from scratch, as I continue to learn PixInsight. This revision is based on the CFA drizzle integration result. The galaxy has been used as the white reference in the ColorCalibration tool. I've used 'UnsharpMask' once on all bright objects and twice on the galaxy to increase the contrast. Morphological Transformation with a contour star mask has been used for removing the bright star galos.

Views by Submitters (available since September 19th, 2023) Every image is assigned to 50% of available Submitters. In the event that at least 80% of them don't view the image before its time in the IOTD/TP process expires, it's assigned to the other 50% of Submitters and the process begins anew.
