Description

This is a low surface brightness galaxy that looks a lot like M33. It contains one of the largest known Ha regions in NGC2404 located above the core in this orientation. This galaxy contains a lot of notable large Ha regions just like M33 and would greatly benefit from a future Ha addition.

I wanted to wrap this one up for this season since it starts past the meridian around here and limits the amount of time I can get on it for a given day.

This is the second image I’ve edited using PixInsight and the RC-Astro suite and man I’ve been missing out. I’m not going to like the bill when the trials expires but the images are going to be worth it.

Processing:
  1. ASTAP blink and stack with flats, darks, dark flats
  2. PixInsight
    1. Dynamic Crop
    2. Gradient Correction
    3. Image Solver
    4. SPCC
    5. BXT
    6. NXT
    7. GHSx2
    8. Linear Transform
    9. Mask Galaxy
    10. Curves Transform x3
    11. Background Neutralization

I've still got a lot to learn about PixInsight but it's quite fun so far!
