Description

Decided to use another approach than used on this Giacobinni-Zinner Comet version,

https://astrob.in/361061/C/

I used the 16" SCT / Atik Horizon camera to take, in total 186x30sec L, R, G and B exposures of the comet and tracked the Eq. on a nearby star.

Would have been great with one more hour of exposures, but that was not possible due to clouds came and closed the sky.

I made several aligned median stacks in CCDStack2, on stars and on the comet head, which were then combined in Photoshop CS6 to the final picture.

I took the frames in this order, sequences of LRGB, LRGB, ... .

In this way the different filter frames were separated in time so that the median stack approach worked pretty good.

All frames were calibrated with darks and flat frames before registred and normalized.

More details/evidence can be provided if needed/requested, thanks.

During the session/night, I had four nearby street lamps covered.

My home build observatory is placed in my front yard/in the "red light" polution zone, have a look here,

Red Zone

Kind regards Niels
