Description

Hi everybody and happy new year,

The Orion Trapezium Cluster, also known as Theta1 Orionis, is a tight open cluster of stars in the heart of the Orion Nebula. it requires high resolution imagery to be fully resolved, specifically the components H and K (not sure of the name K for this one).

It has here been imaged by my firend @Kristen using the DIY 520mm f= 2360mm Newtonian of the Copernic Assosiation (South East of France). The camera is an ASI 462 MC.

Two series of images are mixed here, one using an IR 850 Filter (200 ms exposure time / 15 000 kept out of 36 000). And another with IR/UV cut (230 ms exposure time / 2500 kept out of 5000) juste for the color.

Processing was not easy as it needed a pre-stretching for SIRIL to register on the IR frames. The stacking algorithm settings also required several tries (similarity was finally OK).

Hope you will enjoy this new year full resolution Trapezium.
