The Horsehead and Flame Nebulae
This is my first time imaging the Horsehead and Flame Nebulae since nearly 2 years ago. I am very happy with the results, although the halo around Alnitak was a pain to deal with in post, but it is nowhere near as bad as I thought it would be, especially since my Radian 61 has issues with halos around bright stars.
I used my Optolong L-Ultimate filter to bring out more details of the background dust, and considering the amount of total integration time, I am quite surprised at just how much details there are, although I did notice that due to the 3nm bandpass of the Optolong L-Ultimate, most (if not all) of the details in the reflection nebulae around the Horsehead Nebula are not as prominent, particularly around IC 432 and IC 435. I may end up shooting some RGB frames at some stage to try and bring back those details as I think they add a nice contrast to the Horsehead and Flame Nebulae.
I would like to try and add more integration time when time and weather permits, but for now, I am more than happy with just under 3hrs as a starting point.
