Description

Messier 20 (M20), more commonly known as the Trifid Nebula is a stunning cosmic spectacle located in the constellation Sagittarius. Its name originates from its three-lobed appearance, a fascinating combination of different nebula types. The emission nebulae which I have processed as the pinkish-reddish-orange areas glow due to ionized hydrogen gas, while the blue reflection nebula reflects light from young, hot stars in an active star birth region, then you have the dark nebulae, dense clouds of dust creating the dramatic dark lanes that give the Trifid its three-lobed form. The central region holds a young open cluster of stars, their intense radiation sculpting the surrounding gas and dust.
