Description

SH2-308, aka Dolphin nebula, is created by a WR star in the center of the Dolphin head. The nebula is very faint, with strong OIII emission and faint Ha background. This image utilized an uncommon combination of Ha and OIII signals, putting Ha into the blue channel and OIII into the red channel, creating the desired effect of a blue ocean like background, with a golden Dolphin jumping out of the sea. The image was taken by Feng Xin and Gong Miao from Daocheng Glacial Observatory, and processed by myself. Total integration was about 47 hours.
