Description

Now that I'm enjoying an observatory in my backyard, I'm working to increase my average exposure time. This is 16 hours of data, collected with an OSC and an IDAS-LPS-P2 filter. The Seven Sisters (Pleiades) is an asterism and an open star cluster containing middle-aged, hot B-type stars in the north-west of the constellation Taurus. At a distance of about 444 light years, it is among the nearest star clusters to Earth. It is the nearest Messier object to Earth, and is the most obvious cluster to the naked eye in the night sky. (Wikipedia) Not a very difficult target to shoot but I did have trouble processing the center, huge, pink halo. I'm happy with the nebulosity and detail, so I figure I'll put this up to share and maybe revisit it again on her.
