Description

M65 and M66 are both spiral galaxies located about 35 million light-years away in the constellation Leo. They are part of a small group of galaxies known as the Leo Triplet, which also includes NGC 3628.
  • M65 is a classified as a Sa spiral galaxy, meaning it has a well-defined central bulge and tightly wound spiral arms.
  • M66 is classified as an SBb spiral galaxy, indicating a bar structure across its center and loosely wound arms. It's also the largest of the three galaxies in the Leo Triplet at 100,000 light-years across.
