Description

This small Astrobin Debut Object is a spiral galaxy located 190 million light years away in the constellation of Cetus at a declination of +5 degrees.  It is a magnitude 12 galaxy which spans 2.2 arc-minutes in our apparent view.  This corresponds to a Milky Way like diameter of 120,000 light years.

From our view perspective, the disk is inclined about 20 degrees from face-on.

This galaxy has a bright non-barred core and an inner bright lens region.  The outer disk has numerous star clouds and several arm fragments.  The 2 longest arm fragments appear to be point symmetric, making the disk look like a hybrid between a grand design disk and a lenticular disk.
