Description

M-81 (Bode Galaxy) and M-82 (Cigar Galaxy)An elegant pair of galaxies quite visible during the winter months with binoculars or a small telescope. They are located in Ursa Major constellation.M-82 is an edge-on galaxy. The red bust in the center of the galaxy is a region of rapid star formation, due to the gravitational interaction with its neighbor, M-81.I photographed the pair last week, over 2 nights with a fast (f/4) Newtonian telescope. 5 hours through LRGB, supplemented in the red by 1 hour of Ha.
