I concur.  One way of looking at this is the pricing of the new 110GTX.  A lot of effort has gone into that scope wrt imaging perfection for full frame or even bigger CMOS-pixel-sized sensors.  I'm sure it's a brilliant scope.  But look at its pricing, and compare that to old Tak FSQs.  On a relative value basis - especially with BXT2AI4 out now - the 110GTX seems hugely overpriced for what you can accomplish with the old FSQ on a modern CMOS.

Agreed. Now I want to try the F3 reducer with the FSQ106 on IMX455. From the early tests, it's still not perfect, but the result is acceptable. With a 645 reducer, it's perfect.

I think this is a great example. Of course, a good number of people who buy AP scopes do so for more than just optical design (and I have to admit I am one of them) - in the same way that people buy BMWs or Porsches for more than the 0-60 performance. But even if you were willing to spend the money on a 110 GTX - there is a long waiting list for one. So software like this, and perhaps improvements made in the future, will allow us to get performance close to this level through other means.

can I ask what Pixinsight process you are showing here? I’ve seen a few posts which use it, but they don’t actually explain what it is. Thanks
