Helloooo,

do I miss out if I go with the 4.5 nm Filters instead of the 3nm Filters from Antlia?
They are considerably cheaper.

Thx and cs

I have the 4.5nm Ha and SII filters which I have been very happy with. They’ve proven to be a nice upgrade from my old 7nm filters and I don’t see a need to consider going to 3nm for these filters. That being said, I did go with Antlia 2.8nm for Oiii since that filter is the most problematic for halos. All Antlia filters are the same thickness so my EFW has no issues reaching focus when changing between 2.8 and 4.5nm.

Thank you bob,

was the choice to buy the 2.8nm oiii filter only because you know that this filters tend to make problems or because you had knowledge of halos with the 4.5nm one.

thx

Hi Andreas,
I also have the Edge 4.5nm in Ha and Sii and 3nm for Oiii. With all filters no problems with halo and I bought the 3nm Oiii to be less dependent on moon and light pollution. I have good experiences with this combination.

Andi,

I'm not aware of any issues with the 4.5nm Oiii filter and I've seen lots of great images taken with this filter.  I imaged for a long time using a 6.5nm Oiii filter which performed quite well. I decided to go with 2.8nm Oiii to make me less dependent on the moon cycles and to get the best performance possible for ultra long exposures. My decision was based more on theory rather than any known issues with the 4.5nm Oiii.

I upgraded to the 4.5nm from a different brands 7nm and really love them.  All my (recent) nebula images are with the EDGE filters including the OIII and haven't really had any issues with halo's on any of them!
